Kim Beazley Labour Studies Award for 2010

Applications are now open for the $10,000 Kim Beazley Labour Studies Award for 2010.

The Award is to encourage outstanding CFMEU mining and energy workers, or their immediate family, to undertake labour studies and work for the Australian labour movement.

There will be no more than one Award each year, and it may not be awarded if there are no outstanding applicants.

The Award will be $10,000 per year for each year of full-time degree level (or postgraduate degree level) study up to a maximum of 5 years. The Award may be granted on a pro-rata basis for part-time studies in special circumstances.

Applicants will be required to undertake studies in a labour-related discipline (for example, industrial relations, labour law and politics) AND will be required to undertake an internship with the CFMEU in each year of their study AND must be willing to take employment with the CFMEU or a CFMEU-recommended labour organization at the completion of their studies.

Applicants must complete the Application Form, and it must be given to the Lodge Secretary at the place of work of the CFMEU member. The Lodge Secretary must complete an Assessment Form and forward the two completed Forms to the Trust.
